Paragliding
The wing is the main part of the paraglider. It looks similar to a parachute. It has a rectangular shape and is curved. There are different types of paraglider wings available to choose from, generally dependent on the type of turbulence which may be expected, and the desired speed of the pilot.
HARNESS
A harness is suspended below the wing in which the pilot sits. It can vary from a basic harness setup which is only little more than a series of straps, to something with remarkable protection, like a chair. These more advanced harnesses hold a reserve parachute under the seat which can be easily deployed by just pulling a handle. These harnesses also beneficial for reasons such as protection from cold air in the high alpine altitudes, storage, and airbag protectors; which can be used in the event of a failed takeoff or rough landing.
HELMET FOR THE UNEXPECTED
The best paragliding helmets are made of kevlar to enable light weight and great strength. An accident can cause head trauma therefore helmets are needed for the full protection of the head. A large faceguard is usually useful in the event when a launch does not go as planned.
FOOTWEAR SUITABLE FOR LANDING
The ankle is the most commonly injured part of the body during paragliding. Ordinarily, hiking boots will suffice, but advanced users wear a pair of special boots with high sides to protect the ankle from any trauma. Paragliding boots are also designed with no external lacing clips, as these can snap on your lines.
